Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia University Dental Hospital, designed to provide a wide spectrum quality dental care, treatment and prevention for the residents of Kyrenia as the second largest dental hospital of Cyprus ranking after the Dentistry Faculty Hospital of Near East University, has started to provide service with the grand opening by the TRNC Prime Minister Hüseyin ÖZGÜRGÜN.
The Minister of Health, Mr. Faiz SUCUOĞLU, Minister of Interior Kutlu EVREN, Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Nazım ÇAVUŞOĞLU, Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri ATAOĞLU, Kyrenia District Governor Mustafa ERİŞMEN, Mayor of Kyrenia Nidai GÜNGÖRDÜ, Mayor of Çatalköy Mehmet HULUSİOĞLU, Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat İ. GÜNSEL, Near East University Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. GÜNSEL, Rectors and vice Rectors of the Near East University and Kyrenia University, state and government officials and guests attended the grand opening ceremony of Kyrenia University Dental Hospital.
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of the University of Kyrenia, the opening ceremony began with a moment of silence followed by the national anthem in memory of Ghazi Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK, TRNC Founding President Raif R. DENKTAŞ and Turkish Cypriot Leader Dr. Fazıl KÜÇÜK.
Kyrenia University Dental Hospital offers wide spectrum services through 8 departments
The press statement highlights that the 8 departments consisting of Pedodontics, Oral Diagnosis, Endodontic, Restorative, Periodontology, Prosthetics, Orthodontics, and Maxillofacial Surgery will provide high quality, safe and affordable services under the body of Kyrenia University Dental Hospital. Also, a fully equipped local operating theater, a computerized dental tomography and a CADCAM device capable to provide patients with dental prosthesis within the same day is available at the dental hospital.

Prof. Dr. Serap ÇETİNER, Chief Physician of Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia University Hospital, stated that the Kyrenia University Dental Hospital with its fully equipped technical and medical infrastructure, and highly qualified dental team it will provide a health service to all patients including patients from oversea countries.
Kyrenia University Dental Hospital, which provides dental care and treatment opportunities for 14 patients simultaneously in a session, offers the patients dental restorations in one visit through CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing) technology integrated with a tomography device. CAD/CAM is capable to improve the design and creation of dental restorations, especially dental prostheses within the day of visit. Since we are devoted to providing services regarding all aspects of oral and dental health, we also offer aesthetic applications including implants, lip positioning and smile designing” said she.
Underlining the crucial role of oral and dental health programs in correcting the oral and dental health profile of the population, Prof. Dr. Serap ÇETİNER stated that they would launch such a program for all patients including babies. Also stating that the elderly and sick, children and disabled people are groups that we shall give priority in delivering services. These patients will be provided with opportunity to receive services and care from special patient representatives from the moment they admit to the hospital. When necessary, we will help them to reach the hospital or we will provide them with oral and dental health services at their homes. Young, frightened or disabled patients will be treated under general anesthesia. With “on call” system, our on-duty doctors will provide emergency service for 24 hours”
From October 5 onwards, Kyrenia University Dental Hospital begins to accept patients through a system that complies with international quality standards
Indicating that they would start accepting patients from 5th of October with a system established in compliance with international quality standards, Prof. Dr. Serap ÇETİNER voiced her firm belief that the Kyrenia University Dental Hospital would be one of the rare reference centers.
